APE Scare and Care Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit agency that focuses on establishing events to give support, aid or supplies to other charities, families, and individuals in need in our local community. We work with other charities to see what they need and try to support them. We also look at families or individuals in the community that need help and buy them supplies, food, clothing or other essential that they could need. We try to help as many charities, families, or individuals as we can a year in hopes to make our community a better place. We all are volunteers that love what we do and just want to help in any way that we can. Our History
From the mind of a madman……
Fright Night Mansion is the brainchild of founder Mark Purcell. But at an early age by the “mansion” bug with the Auburn Jaycees, Mark crafted the idea in his basement lair with the help of his friends. Frustrated that Auburn lacked a proper haunted house, Mark took his love for the horror genre and began building the very first Fright Night Mansion in his back yard on Case Avenue in Auburn NY. Meant to be a “neighborhood” attraction, the first Fright Night Mansion was an early success. Encouraged by the turnout and an army of new and eager mansioneers, the Fright Night crew moved their operation to the Fingerlakes Mall. Costing only $1 for admission in 1988, Fright Night drew a crowd of over 6000 patrons ready to be scared. It was a raging success, and the stage was set. For 30 years Fright Night has been providing Cayuga County and beyond with high quality entertainment every Halloween season. With hundreds of volunteer hours being given to build what has been called the scariest haunted attraction in central NY.
Over the Years we have grown and learned. As of 2023 we are now a 501c3 and we changed the name to APE Scare and Care Ince because we are getting to doing other events not just the haunted house. We plan to do the haunted house every year as a fund-raiser. Now we are looking into doing a Christmas walkthrough and even a 5k costume race/walk.
